One of the many things that we had to buy for our first daughter was a baby highchair. Having used it for about 15 months I am a great fan of the Chicco Polly highchair. It is a serious contender for the top spot in its class with the slimmest fold, many useful features and fully adjustable. It is not the lightest, nor is it the most portable but it is a top class highchair.
Excellent Quality And Well-Built
The way that we chose the Chicco Polly was by lining it up with some others in the store. We selected the better ones we could afford and compared them in a line right there. We put our baby daughter in each of them to see if she appeared more comfortable in either one of them and we had a go at folding the chairs, lifting them and so on. The Chicco highchair stood out from the alternatives not only by virtue of its bright, funky colours (we chose the 'Seventy' design) but because of how well made it was compared to the others. All the plastic parts were made from high impact plastic that are highly durable. The safety harness was securely anchored through the rear of the backrest with additional anchor points near the base of the seat. I knew that this chair would last a life time if we needed it to. Nothing about it is flimsy or weak.
Colours And Themes
When choosing a highchair for your baby you should go for something that you like as well as something that fits in with your home. We went for the Chicco Polly Seventy design, which is bright and funky with greens, purples and pinks. We preferred this to some of the less vibrant colours available on other highchairs. Another good thing is that all the adjustable components are highlighted with bright contrasting colours. For example, the buttons to adjust the height are bright orange against the grey seat, as are the adjusters for the seat back, leg rest, arms and other adjustable features. This made the highchair easy to use from scratch. I liken it to the components in the engine bay of a car. You know where the oil filler cap is, where the dip-stick is, the washer bottle cap as they are often bright yellow in modern cars.
Adjustability And Safety
As previously described, there are a number of components on the Chicco Polly highchair that can be moved or adjusted to suit a baby's needs. In total there are around nine elements to be adjusted, including the back rest, leg rest, foot support, arms, sliding tray and height. I like that it does this because as my daughter grows the chair will adjust to her height and ability to move in the chair. The safety harness is very secure too. The strong woven straps are anchored through the rear of the back rest and go through the padded seat cover around a child's shoulders. A crotch strap anchors through the base of the seat and allows the shoulder straps to clip into it. The straps attach to another which holds the child around its hips. I have complete confidence that my little girl is safe and secure in her chair if I turn my back for even a second.
The Chicco Polly highchair is not the lightest, nor is it the easiest to carry from place to place but it is the slimmest in its class when folded down. It is durable and it will last for the age range it is designed for (6 months to 3 years old). It is strong and well made with a variety of colours and themes to choose from.
