How to Encourage Your Baby to Learn

It always looks cute when your adorable little baby is mimicking sounds, recognizing things and is able to reflect his understanding of common things.

Many people are unsure of how to get their babies to learn and the age at which they should encourage learning. There is no set age actually and it all depends on the child. However, the parents should keep track of her development to know when is the right time to motivate her to learn.

At the age of 6 months:

Babies love music and so you should show them the educational videos like nursery rhymes, animal sounds songs, phonics song, counting songs, etc. at the age of 6 months, she will not understand anything but the music. She will be fascinated with it and will begin to like these videos. When she grows older this likeness will increase and she will start catching things from those videos.

At the age of one year:

Usually at the age of one, the baby understands most of the simple commands like "stand up", "come here", "eat this", etc. when she gets enough sense to understand simple sentences, it is the right time to encourage her to learn more things.

Give her picture books and tell her stories out of them.

You can also give her coloring books and colors. At the age of two, she should be able to color the pictures and recognize the different colors. Use washable colors and crayons.

Give her small white board and a board marker which is washable. Allow her to use the marker anywhere she wants but do tell her gently that she should use it on the white board.

Give her stickers of phonics, numbers and other things that she likes and let her stick them up where ever she wants. Use 3D stickers which are easily removed.

At the age of two:

You can take your child to play group so she can socialize with other kids and learn more.

Give her educational toys like laptops, building blocks, play dough, etc.

Give her simple picture dictionaries so that she can recognize things.

Appreciate the baby a lot:

Tell everyone to applause when the baby reaches a milestone like being able to name the colors and recognize different shapes. This way, she gets motivated to learn more.

Don't force the baby:

Every baby has different development speeds. Some do not start talking until they are much older while others are talking from an early age. Don't let these differences get in the way of your baby's learning. Be patient and always encourage your child and appreciate her.

Why do this yourself when your baby will already be learning these things when she goes to school?

When you make the baby learn from an early age instead of waiting for her to go to school, you are actually encouraging her brain to function more actively and you give her learning abilities a boost. Your child will catch things easily when she gets older and she will grow up to be smart and intelligent.
